Allan Peterkin (Academic Director of the NBM Lab) became the inaugural recipient of the National Award for Excellence in the Health Humanities awarded by the Canadian Association for Health Humanities (CAHH).
This award recognizes Allan’s remarkable influence on the growth of health humanities across Canada, including his commitment to equity and to supporting emerging writers and learners. As a visionary leader in the field, Allan has expanded the place of story, reflection, and human connection within medicine and inspired generations of students and colleagues.
In addition to his important work in building health humanities as an inclusive space for scholarship, mentorship, and narrative expression, Allan’s leadership helped lay the foundation for CAHH and the wider community it supports today.
