Paula Holmes-Rodman (NBM Lab Advanced Certificate alum, writer, ethnographer, and patient advocate) was awarded the prestigious King Charles III Coronation Medal earlier this spring, a national honour recognizing her service to Canadians for making a lasting impact on communities. Paula received the medal for her creation of the Self-Advocacy Guide for Cancer Patients on the Autism Spectrum and her unwavering commitment to advancing empathy, inclusion, and communication in healthcare.
Paula’s work continues to bridge narrative and medicine through her writing. Her recent short story, “Storytelling on the Borders” was published in Ars Medica, is a reflection on her deep engagement with the emotional and relational dimensions of caregiving.
Please join us in celebrating Paula’s national recognition for her contributions to patient advocacy and narrative-based medicine.
